In 1976, I spent the summer washing dishes at Hamilton’s Lake Store #4 in Yellowstone National Park. To this day, it remains the best summer of my life.
My photographic odyssey began in 1978, when I was plucked from the midwestern doldrums for a summer internship at the Los Angeles Times. I stayed for a year. Other photojournalistic endeavors have included stints at National Geographic, The Kansas City Star and The Tulsa Tribune.
Today my clients include magazines, corporations and advertising agencies. Professional awards include: 1981 Pulitzer Prize staff award with The Kansas City Star, CPOY 1st place Feature, NPPA Ehrenreich Scholarship, OPA Picture of the Year, William Randolph Hearst National Photojournalism Finalist and The Communication Arts Photography Annual.
Highly recommended activities include: bike riding (preferably in the mountains), hanging out with labrador retrievers, writing, taking the camera for a walk and a 2pm nap.

The University of Kansas: Adjunct Professor; Spring 2011, Fall 2009, Fall 2008. At the invitation of the KU Fine Arts Department, I was asked to create a new curriculum and teach a multimedia course incorporating: still photography, videography, audio recording and writing into multimedia presentations.
